Rallying
The club organised two major night rallies each year until the late 1970’s, the Harold Sharp and the Chico, which formed part of the National Motoring News Championship, as well as the Grasshopper stage rally that was part of the regional championship.
With the reduction of road rallying in the South East, the Club now only organises a series of navigational scatter rallies which form one of the Club championships. We do however have a strong section of members who participate in road and stage rallies at all levels up to international status in modern, classic and historic cars.
Current members compete in a wide variety of events. Several members compete in British championships but due to the close proximity of the English Channel crossings, Belgian rallying has become a favourite with club members both competing and spectating. The Montberg Rallysprint, Ypres and Rally of Flanders are well supported with several club members either driving or co-driving.
With many members being experienced competitors and organisers, we also assist in the running of other club’s events.
